Credit Photograph by Cassi Alexandra / Bloomberg via Getty “Are you ready to stump for Trump?” Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska, shouted from a stage last night in Ames, Iowa, as the Donald stood behind her. The Republican Presidential front-runner had hinted at her endorsement for days, and, after an introduction in which he quoted poll numbers and reminded the audience that “the Persians are great negotiators” and promised to “protect your guns,” here she was, contrasting the current “weak-kneed capitulator-in-chief” to her candidate. “Things are going to change under President Trump!” Palin, who will never change, added that Trump was “going rogue,” just like she would. “The status quo has got to go!” Palin said. “It can’t be salvaged. It must be savaged. And Donald Trump is the right one to do that!” The putative savager seemed pleased with that thought, as he did with Palin’s entire presentation. As she spoke, Trump provided a silent, mimed commentary, a series of proud smiles, slow claps, grim nods, and even, as she quoted his “You’re fired!” line from “The Apprentice,” a full-on impression of himself delivering it. This was still about him, not her. “It’s a movement, it’s a force!” Palin said, shaking her finger. “It’s a strategy!”
